After selling out their first ever trip to Australia in 2016, James are preparing for a triumphant return in 2018 with their ‘Living in Extraordinary Times Tour’. This time the band are sporting a brand-new album ‘Living in Extraordinary Times” as well as all their swag of British classics.

James’ 1993 hit ‘Laid’ became the soundtrack to early 90s alternative radio before finding a second life through its use in teen hit American Pie films.  James had already had a decade of hits by the time Laid arrived, having risen from Manchester’s legendary Factory Records scene into one of the biggest UK bands in the world by the dawn of the 90s. With alternative hits in Australia including Laid, Sit Down, Sound, Getting Away With It (All Messed Up), She’s a Star and Just Like Fred Astaire, and selling over 25 million records worldwide, the band were triple j staples for over fifteen years, yet took nearly three decades to hit Australian shores.

With sell out shows, great reviews and mad fans, some travelling across Australia to ensure they didn’t miss a single show, a return visit was inevitable.

Looking forward to playing to the boys and the girls at the end of the world again (from our corner of the world) Said Tim Booth. If you enjoyed our last trip, evangelize this one to your friends, and we can make this a regular liaison.”

The album seems to touch upon contemporary fissures in society, with Tim Booth commenting: “We knew something was up when Leicester city won the league then Brexit, then Trump. It is as if we’d slipped into an alternate reality, a Philip K Dick reality. We are living in extraordinary times.”

The tour will visit Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth as well as taking James to Adelaide for the very first time.

“Sometimes rounds off James’s first ever Australian gig and there wouldn’t be many in the audience who didn’t feel privileged to be there.” – The Sydney Morning Herald

“As the band left the stage for the final time, they promised not to wait 35 years next time. Let’s hope they hold true to their word.”Scenestr

“Australia has really been missing out. It’s taken 34 years for Manchester alt-rockers James to visit Australia, but they made it worth the wait.” – The West Australian
