“The world of showbusiness is full of wonder and surprises and I have had the thrill of introducing undiscovered and talented performers such as Tina Arena and Dannii Minogue and so many others throughout my career.  Then I heard Australia’s singing sensation Narelle Belle singing a Karen Carpenter song as it was sung by Karen originally and I was filled with a similar thrill, prompting me to showcase her extraordinary talents.

And so, An Evening with Karen Carpenter was born – a wonderful evening filled with all the Carpenter songs that are close to you and the stories of the adventures of Karen and Richard Carpenter with the music that I am proud to present,” said Johnny Young.

Following our recent success at the Astor Theatre, we are pleased to announce an encore performance on Sunday 9 December of An Evening with Karen Carpenter – Christmas Special – a magical night of music and memories with Narelle and her 8-piece band and backing singers, featuring the wonderful songs that the Carpenters made famous, such as “We’ve Only Just Begun”, “Rainy Days and Mondays”, “Top of the World”, and of course “Close to You”.

The performance will also feature some songs from the “Carpenters Christmas” album, a perfect way to commence your festive season.
