Discover the incredible, riveting story and music of “Sugarman” Sixto Rodriguez who would unknowingly become a superstar in South Africa, gaining greater popularity than The Beatles and Elvis.
Rodriguez only ever released two albums: ‘Cold Fact’ (1970) and ‘Coming From Reality’ (1971). When both releases failed to chart in the US, Rodriguez gave up music and began working in construction for the next 25 years.
During that time Rodriguez had unknowingly inspired a generation during one of the most significant events of the 20th century with his social and politically motivated songs.
It was not until his rediscovery in the late 90’s that his second career in music would truly begin.
‘The Rodriguez Story’ is performed and narrated by Howie Morgan a seasoned performer who felt Rodriguez songs resonated with his own life experience and wanted to share this amazing story and music on the stage.
“Sugarman” The Rodríguez Story is a moving and powerful concert using state of the art video projection, incredible lighting, and a full live band playing the timeless classics, ‘Sugarman’, ‘I Wonder’ ‘Inner City Blues’, ‘I Think Of You’ and many many more.
This is a show not to be missed!
